JUNE: YEMEN HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

Spread awareness and provide life-saving supplies such as therapeutic food, safe drinking water, and health care supplies for children & families affected by the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

AUGUST: LEBANON EMERGENCY CRISIS

Help provide access to medical and vaccine supplies and support first responders in the Beirut port area & UNICEF staff working with child protection to reunite children separated from their families.

SEPTEMBER: CIVIC DUTY

Spread the importance of voting and learn how you can be more civically engaged.

Advocate for mental health wellness and participate in our annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF (TOT) event.

NOVEMBER: CHILDREN RIGHTS

Celebrate women’s rights and get ready for World Children’s Day (WCD) by learning about children’s rights this month.

-> Intersectional Feminism Panel with UMD Girl Up & UMD She’s the First: Monday, November 2nd, 5-6:30 pm

MARCH: ADVOCACY WEEK

Meet with the offices of Senator Ben Cardin, Representative David Trone, and Senator Van Hollen to advocate for appropriations and legislation on behalf of UNICEF! The first bill, The Keeping Girls in School Act, harnesses the power of the US govt. to holistically address the barriers that prevent adolescent girls from receiving an education, including child marriage, violence, and harmful social norms. The second bill, the Mental Health Services for Students Act, would provide grant funding for schools to provide on-site, culturally and linguisitically appropriate mental health services for students, especially since youth suicide and mental health distress has been on the rise well before COVID-19.

Promote the equal
rights of women and girls and their
full participation in political, social and
economic spheres so that they can grow up to lead healthy and productive lives.
